The Government of Ghana has officially inaugurated an 11 member committee to lead the country’s campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The move is part of a strategic plan to ensure the Black Stars receive the right support, preparation and coordination ahead of the tournament.

The committee includes representatives from the Office of the President, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ghana Football Association, National Security and other key state institutions. Former football icons and experienced administrators are also part of the team to provide technical and strategic guidance.

According to the government, the committee will oversee all planning and preparations for the national team. Their mandate covers training arrangements, international friendlies, resource mobilization, logistical support and strengthening cooperation between government and the GFA. They are also expected to ensure transparency and effective use of funds allocated for the World Cup project.

At the inauguration, government officials stated that the 2026 World Cup presents an opportunity not only for football success but also for national branding and economic benefits. They emphasized the need for professionalism, teamwork and strict accountability throughout the preparation process.

The committee will work closely with the technical team of the Black Stars to ensure Ghana competes strongly on the world stage. The government says this structured approach is necessary to avoid past challenges and to build a united national effort toward a successful World Cup appearance.

With the committee now in place, Ghana begins an organized and focused journey toward the 2026 World Cup, aiming to make a strong impact at the global tournament.
